Established in 1993 under the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), our factory was built on a simple vision — to empower smallholder farmers and produce exceptional tea that carries the authentic taste of Murang’a’s highlands.

Over the years, we have grown into a trusted name in Kenya’s tea industry. Today, we proudly work with over 9,000 small-scale tea farmers from the surrounding areas. Every leaf that reaches our factory represents the dedication, resilience, and care of these farmers. Together, we ensure that the tea we produce consistently meets the highest standards of freshness, flavor, and aroma.

Our Products and Services

At Ngere Tea Factory, we specialize in producing and marketing premium black CTC tea for both the local and export markets.

• Bulk Black CTC Tea Production: We process over 800,000 kilograms of tea each month, maintaining strict quality control at every stage of production. Our teas are known for their strong color, rich aroma, and consistent taste profile.

• Value-Added Branded Tea (Highland Classic): In addition to bulk production, we package and sell our own brand — Highland Classic Tea — in various sizes to meet the growing demand for affordable, locally produced tea.

• Premium PF1 Tea: We produce PF1 grade tea, preferred by many for its balanced strength, smooth texture, and vibrant color.

• Green Leaf Collection and Farmer Support: We offer full support to our farmers, from the collection of green leaf to transport, extension services, and timely payments. Our field officers work closely with farmers to ensure that only the finest two leaves and a bud reach the factory.

• Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: We continue to embrace clean energy and environmentally friendly practices by reducing reliance on firewood and shifting towards more sustainable energy sources such as electricity. These initiatives not only lower production costs but also help preserve our environment.
